October in Door County at the Ephraim Guest House Condominiums

Posted by & filed under Blog.

DSCN3775October!  As the leaves turn color on the trees throughout the Door County Peninsula, it’s time to enjoy all that fall has to offer.  The air is cooler and it’s apple harvest time.  The apples are ripe and there are plenty of fall festivals throughout Door County in the month of October.  At the Ephraim Guest House Condominiums may we suggest the following festivals; Townline Art Fair at Fineline Designs in Ephraim, Pumpkin Patch Festival in Egg Harbor, Apple Season Festival at Seaquist Orchards, Fall Festival in Sister Bay, the Door County Fall 50 Run and Jack-o-Lantern Days in Fish Creek.

Each festival has its own uniqueness and flair.  The Townline Art Fair at Fineline Designs consists of visual arts and crafts featuring over 75 professional juried artists from throughout the Midwest.  This show is one of the greats and brings in over 5,000 people where glass, pottery, metal sculptures, paintings, photography, fiber arts, and woodworking will be displayed under tents.  Rain or Shine you and the art will be protected and you can enjoy this festival no matter the forecast.  The TEphraim Guest House Condominiums Applesownline Art Fair will take place both Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

Pumpkin Patch Festival in Egg Harbor has been a mainstay for years and has a very fun and lively atmosphere.  Great for the family, it offers live music, carnival rides, arts & crafts vendors, face painting, pumpkin and scarecrow displays, storytelling, silent auction, food and fun.  Pumpkin Patch Festival takes place the weekend of October 11th & 12th.  Due to the popularity of this festival and that it lands on Columbus Day weekend, we do require a 3 night minimum stay.

Fall is always special in Door County and we love the bounty of the harvest.  Apple picking is great fun and Seaquist Orchards in Sister Bay offers an Apple Season Festival the weekend of Columbus Day.  This is a family-friendly event with activities for the young and young at heart.  Purchase your Door County apples to bring home and enjoy throughout the year by preserving them or enjoy them right away.

Fall Fest in Sister Bay WisconsinAnother popular festival is the Fall Festival in Sister Bay.  What started as an end of the tourism season celebration has now become one of the largest festivals in Door County.  This festival consists of a parade, arts & crafts fair, food booths, live entertainment, children’s activities, and the famed ping-pong shoot-out.  10,000 ping-pong balls are released on Sunday afternoon with a one in ten chance of winning a prize from a participating Sister Bay business.  Such a sight to see you won’t want to miss out on this fantastic festival.  The Fall Festival in Sister Bay takes place on October 18th and 19th.

Whether it’s a yearly tradition to visit Door County in fall or something you’ve heard others speak of, this year is a great year to enjoy the harvest, the colors, and the festivals that surround the Peninsula.

Door County Fall ColorsThe month of September in Door County offers guests a number of reasons to visit but if you enjoy bike riding, this time of the year can be especially inviting for you. Several large bike rides take place this time of year; like the 36th Annual Door County Century Bike Ride on September 7th. This ride is not a race and is intended for all participants to ride “at their own pace”. There are four courses offering different lengths like 28.5, 50, 70, or 100-mile bike routes. Rest stops with food and beverages are spaced throughout the route and a classic Italian dinner picnic is served after the ride.
Another favorite ride is the Peninsula Century Bike Ride on September 13th. This bike ride takes place throughout the bike friendly roads in northern Door County and offers 100, 62, 50, or 25-mile routes. Rest stops for this ride will be provided and a post-ride party beneath the tents at Waterfront Park will take place.
Riding your bike in an organized group/ride is not mandatory and with the beautiful weather that September holds for Door County, any time is the right time for a bike ride. At the Guest House, we are only 1.5 miles to the entrance of Peninsula State Park. Enjoy a ride in the park and take in the fabulous scenery.
