Cherry Upside Down Cake

Looking for a simple Door County Cherry recipe.  We’ve got an easy but yummy one for you from Falcon Orchard in Northern Door County.  This Cherry Upside Down Cake will have everyone begging for more.

Door County Cherry Upside Down Cake

Brown Sugar, Butter and Cherries

3 Tablespoons butter, melted in a 10” cast iron fry pan
Add 3/4 cup brown sugar
Next add in 3 to 4 cups Door County tart cherries, well drained, reserve the juice
Top with a Jiffy Yellow cake mix

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35 to 45 minutes in the fry pan. Cool for 5 minutes. Cover the pan with a serving plate and flip everything upside down onto the plate.  Thicken and sweeten reserved juice to pour over cake when served. Top with whipped cream.
