December Recipes from Ephraim Guest House Condominiums

This month’s recipe is for our favorite Cut-out Cookie Dough recipe that we use every Christmas at our house.  We hope you enjoy and take the time to make some special memories with friends and families at this time of year.

RollingOutCookiesSour Cream Cookies

Cream together:
1 C Shortening
2 C Sugar

Next add 2 eggs to the mixture and beat well.

Sift Together in a separate bowl:
5 C Flour
1 tsp Nutmeg
2 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Vanilla

Add the flour mixture slowly to your shortening and sugar mixture.  Add in 1 C of Sour Cream and mix completely.

Chill dough before rolling out.  Sprinkle flour on your work surface and on your rolling pin.  Roll out to 1/4 inch thick dough.  Use your favorite cookie cutter shapes and sprinkle with decorating sprinkles/sugars or bake plain to frost later.  Bake on a greased sheet and bake 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees.  Decorate as desired.


Icing Recipe for Cookies:

2 C Confectioners Sugar
1/2 – 1 tsp Vanilla
2 TBLSP Margerine or Butter or Coconut Oil

Blend the first three ingredients together and then add 1-3 TBLSP of milk until your desired consistency.  Add food coloring to create colors of your choice.
